Can exercise really boost my mood?
The simple answer – YES! Working out can definitely help you relax, feel better, and
decrease pain. Research on anxiety, depression and exercise has long shown the
psychological and physical benefits of exercise are huge!
Not only can sweating and panting help to boost your mood, but it can prevent and
improve a number of health problems, including high blood pressure, diabetes and
arthritis. This happens in a number of ways, which may include: releasing feel‐good
brain chemicals (endorphins and dopamine) that may decrease depression and
decrease pain (endorphins are more powerful than morphine), reducing immune
system chemicals that can worsen depression and anxiety, increasing body
temperature, which may have calming and relaxing effects.
Exercise also enhances mood with improved confidence (meeting exercise goals can
boost self‐esteem and confidence), taking your mind off negative thoughts and
worry that may feed anxiety and depression, getting more social interaction, and
incorporating positive coping skills instead of turning to food, alcohol or drugs to feel
better.
Research also shows that engaging in regular physical activity decreases health care
costs. With today’s economic pressures, exercise is a low‐cost way for people to cope
with stress and put money back into their own pocket books and the economy.
Incorporate regular exercise into your routine and enjoy the many benefits that come
along with it. And when you add regular chiropractic care, sufficient sleep and a
healthy diet you have all the ingredients of a lifestyle that supports optimal wellness.

Breech means C-section... maybe not
Breech Means C-Section? Maybe Not…..
A breech birth (aka “breech presentation”) refers to the position of the baby in the uterus. These babies will be delivered buttocks first instead of the normal head down (vertex) position. The risk of breech presentation is small, with research showing approximately 4% of full-term (38-42 weeks) pregnancies being breech.
In the 1990’s, some breech babies were still delivered naturally. Beginning in 2003, almost all hospitals declared a halt to delivering breech babies vaginally and began using c-section 100% of the time. But what about the woman who doesn’t want a c-section? Is this the only way?
Chiropractic care, using the Webster Technique, may help prevent a c-section. This is a technique where specific chiropractic adjustments allow for balance in the pregnant woman’s pelvis and reduce unnecessary stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. This makes it easier for a breech baby to turn naturally.
The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported, in the July/August 2002 issue, an 82% success rate of babies turning vertex (head down) when doctors of chiropractic used the Webster Technique.
Currently, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association recommends that women receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy to create pelvic balance and optimize the room a baby has for development throughout pregnancy. Breech presentation may be avoided altogether, resulting in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and baby.

eternal fountain of youth
Is there an eternal fountain of youth that will help you stay younger and healthier?
Believe it or not, the fountain of youth does exist. This fountain was founded by Ponce De Leon in St. Augustine, Florida.
While the “claimed” benefits of the fountain may be folklore, we have more control over staying young and healthy than most imagine.
Modern science offers us a whole host of options, from staying young to reversing the process. But what if you don’t want to utilize drugs and surgical procedures?
What if you want something simple and natural? Keep reading.
Much of the research now states that a vegetarian diet, fasting, and calorie restriction will slow the aging process. While these may sound extreme, they do work. But, there’s an easier place to get started.
The most important factors in staying young and healthy are diet and nutrition, then exercise. Most people are aware of the benefits of diet and nutrition. Even so, 60% of Americans are obese. So, where do we get started?
I recommend starting with water. 80% of Americans are not drinking enough water. Not only is water needed for your body to be as healthy as possible, but hydrated skin is younger looking skin. The Dermatology association states proper water intake is the #1 way to keep your face looking young. Hydration comes from the inside. Here’s the formula – ½ ounce per lb of body weight is needed. If you drink coffee, tea, or soda you need to add those ounces to the formula. For example – 200 lb man needs 100 ounces of water. If he drinks 12 ounces of coffee, his water intake needs to be 112 ounces. This may vary per individual and activity level.
In regards to diet and nutrition, we must start adding fruits and vegetables. Ideally, 5-9 fruits and vegetables everyday. Lastly, adding a high-quality multi-vitamin, multi-mineral, and omega-3’s will allow you to add to the nutrition you’re getting through food. In the beginning, focus on adding things in, instead of taking things out of your diet.
Diet and nutrition is 50% of the picture. The other 50% is exercise. You must exercise to extend the length and quality of your life. Choose a form of exercise you enjoy and find opportunities to get moving. Park in the farthest spot at the grocery store, go on a walk with your kids, dance in your living room, get on your bike, etc. The point isn’t what you do for exercise, it’s that you just get moving. Start now!
Remember you can stay younger and live a healthier life. The choice lies within you, and is yours.

Why do I have to go back?
Once you see a chiropractor, why do you have to go back?
This is one of the most common questions I get.
The truth is, you don’t have to go back.
Most of our practice members make a choice to come back and experience “wellness care”.
Let me explain why and what chiropractic is.
When you see your dentist, he/she is concerned with the health of your teeth.
Your eye doctor is concerned with the health of your eyes.
Your chiropractor is going to look at the health of your nervous system and spine.
Why? Because your nervous system controls the entire body, from your muscles and joints to your heart, lungs, and reproductive system, etc.
In our office, we use technology that allows us to look beyond pain and see the entire picture. How you feel is important, but how you function is part of the bigger picture. What does that mean?
Well, 10% of your nervous system’s job is to tell you there’s pain. 90% of the nervous system is dedicated to the function of your body (ie- muscle tone, heart beating, lungs breathing, digestive tract working, etc).
When you’re nervous system isn’t healthy, you aren’t healthy.
Most people come into our office with some sort of ache or pain. Our first phase of care is “relief care”, where we work on getting your pain/discomfort under control. This part of your treatment plan is usually accomplished before the slower healing soft tissues, muscles, and ligaments have a chance to fully heal, preventing a relapse. With relief care only, you take a chance that the original condition will not only return, but possibly come back worse than it originally was.
Many of our clients make a choice to come for Stabilization and Wellness Care. This is where we work on making corrections to the structure of your spine, so that your original problem will not return.
Here’s an analogy. If you go to your dentist and he finds a cavity, you get the cavity filled (relief care). When leaving the dentist’s office, you are told to brush and floss in between visits (stabilization care) to prevent additional cavities. Lastly, you are told to return in 6 months for a check-up (wellness care) so that small cavities can be caught early and taken care of.
What if your dentist filled your cavities and sent you on your way, telling you to skip brushing and flossing and just return if or when you feel pain in your mouth? Would you fire your dentist? I hope so.
Listen, we don’t make choices for our clients, we simply offer options and empower them on what these options mean.
Some people choose “relief care”, but most people are looking for the benefits of wellness care – prevention and a higher quality of life.
Either way though… the choice is yours. We’re here to serve you on whatever level of care you’re ready to accept.
